Edit while the display is fresh
Notice what was not used, what is damaged, and what no longer suits your traditions. Repair, donate, recycle, or discard before packing.
Keep sentimental pieces even if they are not displayed every year, but store them separately from everyday decorations so they receive suitable protection.

Pack by decorating zone
Group tree decorations, table settings, outdoor lights, children's decorations, and wrapping supplies separately. This allows one area to be decorated without opening every box.
